Car Audio Newbie? Look here.
If you're anything like me, then you have no idea what you're doing when it comes to car audio. So I thought I'd leave a few tips along with my review to save you some research time. (Bottom paragraph is the review portion) -This radio is a single DIN (generic radio size for most cars) If the radio you are replacing is more than two inches in height, then you'll also need to buy a dash kit to fit your radio slot from double to single DIN. You'll also need to secure the metal sleeve that comes on the radio too your new dash kit. -You'll need a wire harness specific to your car model. This allows the power and speaker wires that come with the radio to connect with the speaker and power wires in your car. To do this, just match the colors of your radio wires to the colors of the wire harness wires. Either solder the ends together or wrap them around each other and put a protective cap on them. Also make sure you do this before you connect the harness to the car. Make sure you connect all the radio wires to the wire harness. There will likely be more wires on the harness than you'll need. Ignore unused wires. Also sometimes your car will have more cables than the radio will need. Ignore them. This radio has a 4 channel output. This means it'll only connect to four speakers. It has out puts for an amplifier as well, if you want to attach more speakers. -Connect the wire harness and antenna wire to the back of the radio, and you're good to go. Some people recommend you disconnect the battery to be safe. Review: Great radio for the price. I was expecting a cheap plastic cover. I'm a trained competitive musician, and am quite pleased with the sound quality. A lot of people think the blue LED is too bright at night, in reality it's far less bright than the headlights of oncoming traffic. The sleeve that comes with the radio is a little tricky to mount, but its nothing a little creativity won't solve. I've also seen some reviews complaining of volume. The loudest output is 50W out of each speaker, which is more than loud enough to concern your doctor and anger your nicest neighbors. Don't be that jerk face. Overall this radio is exactly what I expected for the money with a better sound quality than I thought.
