I have had this exact shredder for about 4 years now and it works great, though I'd have to agree with other reviewers on the 8 sheets. It will do it BUT it is very slow and grinding to accomplish it. The instruction manual with mine said to "lubricate" the tines occasionally. There is a specific oil you can buy for shredders, but I have been using sewing machine oil for years with no problem. I take a single piece of 8.5x11 paper and run 3 lines of oil across it near the top, bottom and middle of the paper. I let that soak into the paper for a few seconds then run it through the shredder by itself. If I am doing a lot of shredding, I do it toward the beginning if it has been a while since I lubricated it. The very last piece of paper that I shred will have oil on it anytime I lubricate it. I even throw an extra one in about halfway through if I am doing a lot of shredding. I have shredded for 20-30 minutes with no issues as long as I kept the paper quantity to about 4 pages and kept it lubricated. You can't expect any shredder this size and cuts paper this small to continuously shred large quantities of paper for 15-20 minutes with no lubrication, without overheating. Because this shreds it so finely I throw it in my compost bin when it is full, though I make sure I haven't shredded anything like a credit card.
