worked like a charm. i was prepared for this to be a piece of junk but ti did exactly what i wanted. 2 tips for success: -When you hold the button, it beeps right away for 2 seconds - it's calibrating. Hold it over a non-stud area. When it's done, now you can slide it around to detect (keep holding button). -Once you find the edge of a stud, you can let go of the button. Otherwise when you move your other hand with the pencil near it, it will beep. Also, you need your own 9v battery.
