I have a gaming laptop that doesn't have a disc drive, so I bought this to play a few CD games. It works perfectly. It will make noises if I'm loading a disc or installing a game but once I actually start playing the game, it's completely silent. I've used it for long periods of time and haven't had an issue with it. I even convinced my mom to buy one because her laptop doesn't have a disc drive either. She uses it to burn CDs and it works perfectly for her as well. 10/10
