Great alternative to sweeping/ vacuuming / mopping. A few caveats.
This is my very in-depth review for: Bissell PowerFresh Vac & Steam All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop, 2747A If you prefer a quicker summary, go straight to the summary section. Background: I will start by disclosing that I am receiving this set free of charge in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I have hard wood floors on my basement, and some linoleum tiles in the kitchen. At some point all of it will be hard wood but, construction in the basement is not done and I am not moving to the kitchen until I am done downstairs. Anyway, since the basement is partially under construction, I get a lot of dust on the hard wood floor. The kitchen/dinning, being an open concept one where we entertain a lot, has a lot of traffic. My cleaning approach, for the past few years has been, vacuum then Swiffer wet jet. It is a good two step approach that works. When I got offered this one to review it, I saw it as an opportunity to change a known two step process that works for a one step process that could work better or fail miserably, and I went for it. Unboxing: I love unboxing stuff. I’ve always said, you can know a lot about a product by the way the manufacturer packages it. This packaging wasn’t the greatest. The cardboard inserts were very snug in there and thus the vacuum would not slide out. Had to rip the cardboard open from the side. It would have been a very entertaining video to upload, with a frustrated me cursing at the ripped cardboard. However, I decided it wasn’t worth it and I didn’t upload it. Putting it together: Installation wise, this is without a doubt the easiest device I’ve had to put together ever (and that is not a hyperbole). I usually do a video showing the unboxing and assembly process. I didn’t do it this time because It literally took one click to assemble it and the unboxing wasn’t the greatest. The included manual is very useful and necessary. While it was extremely intuitive to put together, most other functions and operation modes are not that intuitive, and glancing at the manual is not a bad idea. Using it, Buttons positioning are not my favorite, I feel the machine could be more intuitive if re-arranged a bit. But they are not awful, and all buttons have a good tactile feel to them. The steam on both low and high (clean very well, leaving the area almost completely dry, instantly after using it). The vacuum power is comparable to a decent stick vacuum but falls very short when compared to a mid to high end upright vacuum. The cord can get in your way when using the machine and the cable management solution in the back of the machine is a bit primitive, it works but just Ok. ********** Summary: What I liked about this vacuum/steamer is that: - For what it does, it is very light weight. - It cleans linoleum and hard wood very well. - Leaves no water residue behind. Area “feels” clean instantly. - Putting it together was as easy as “Click”. What I disliked about them: - Is not as intuitive as it could be if some of the buttons were re-arranged. Nonetheless they are not awful. - Getting it out of the box was frustrating. Lol ;) Other thoughts: So, the main questions now are: do I recommend this vacuum at its base price, and do I think the pricing is fair? I would say kinda and yes. This is a better alternative than the Vacuuming and Swiffer wet jet combo that I have been using for years now. So, if looking for hard floor cleaning option and you don’t have a vacuum or a Swiffer wet jet, go for it. If you own both, I would still go for it, but when on sale.
