This 8" skillet is absolutely wonderful. Most electric fry pans are 12", 14", even 16" and with the power cord inserted are just way too big. I was afraid 8" might be too small but every inch, right up to the sides heats up evenly and therefore uses all of it's space. I cook mainly for just my husband and myself, but it holds enough for four servings of most things. My reason for really wanting an option other than my kitchen stove is that I have a glass top Maytag that is WHITE. And it is beautiful, looks good in my kitchen. But you have to clean it....almost the entire surface everytime you cook and especially if you fry anything. It is not hard to clean with the Stove Top creamy cleaner. But you have to do it, it sometimes takes elbow grease to get off burned-on spots under the fry-pan. And, knowing I have to do that even after cooking a few pieces of bacon for breakfast I would just not do it. (Yes, you can microwave or bake bacon....but that's not how I like it.) This little skillet can sit anywhere on the counter, or even on the stove with paper towels (or newspaper) under it to catch all the spatters , and just a quick whisk and it's clean. The skillet and the cover are dishwasher safe but it cleans so quickly and easily that I don't bother putting in the dishwasher, and I use it almost every meal. It's perfect for grilling sandwiches, steaming vegetables and to cook anything you'd usually cook on a stove. It can also be used right on the table for so many things. I love it.
