Philips "warm glow" bulbs rock!
My house has a large number of fixtures that take multiple candelabra base bulbs so I experimented with four different candelabra LED bulbs, all in their "soft white" 2700K dimmable varieties using a new Leviton LED-compatible dimmer switch: 1) Philips 7W=60W, 500 lumens, "Warm Glow" 2) LOHAS 7W=60W, 600 lumens 3) SooFoo 6W=60W, 600 lumens, "Flame Tip" / filament LED 4) GE 32973 7W=60W, 500 lumens I eliminated the SooFoo bulbs quickly as the bulbs I tried flickered badly even at full power. The GE bulbs were middle of the road; they dimmed reasonably well, were attractive looking but didn't offer anything special. The LOHAS bulbs were the brightest and dimmed fine so I decided to go with them in the fixtures where I really need the extra brightness (about half of the fixtures). But the Philips bulbs rose to the top because of their warm glow feature. Most LED bulbs can still only be dimmed to 20-50% of full brightness without running into problems with flickering. The Philips warm-glow bulbs successfully dim down to almost nothing and at that level give a nice warm glow that reminds me of the embers in a fire place. The quality of the light from bright to dim is perfect for a dining room chandelier or other fixtures where you might want to use a dimmer regularly so I went with the Philips bulbs for the other other half of the fixtures in my home. Love them!
