We cancelled our cable service, got an HD antenna, plus this beauty, plus a Sony sound bar with three HDMI inputs. This combination lets us get HD broadcasts for free from the ten zillion TV channels available in L.A., several of which are in English, and lets us run the signal from the antenna through the Mediasonic and, using its HDMI output, into the sound bar, so we get great sound. This unit is also like a TiVo, because you can record TV shows to a USB thumb drive, and you can even "pause" them while viewing in case you have to, well, you know, take a break. I strongly recommend this.
