Great feeder, as it is all metal and can be sterilized between fillings. You must sterilize finch feeders to avoid the eye disease that is wiping out so many goldfinches. I also like the small size because fewer birds feed at it at a time, limiting any possible spread. I sterilize mine by pouring boiling water over it after washing thoroughly in soap and water and then let it sit in the sun to dry for the UV. Sometimes I soak it in bleach or vinegar, too. This thing is rugged and the birds love it. Such sweet little birds and delightful musical chirping -- it's heartbreaking to see them sick and dying. This feeder is the answer for me. I haven't seen any sign of conjunctivitis yet.
