I have a crazy hard bed but can't get a new mattress at this time. With upcoming breast cancer surgery I knew I needed something to help keep me comfortable. Of course this doesn't turn my mattress in to a $1,000 dollar new mattress, but it makes all the difference in the world. I dryer fluffed it first. It is VERY soft and when you lay down it almost envelopes your sides in softness. I can still tell my bed is a brick under, but this topper makes the thing comfortable and soft
