I just spoke to Farouk Systems, maker of this Chi G2 product. As long as you purchase through Amazon itself (not an individual selling on Amazon - meaning don't click on the other buying options sometimes clickable under the item description), this product is authentic. Amazon is in fact an authorized retailer for Chi products. There has been some discussion, both on this review site and online in general, regarding the plug. Many are saying that if your flat iron has a regular two prong plug with no ground fault circuit interrupter, your product is a fake. Farouk Systems said they no longer use the circuit interrupter plug on this iron because it doesn't use enough watts/amps to require it. Bottom line - buy straight from Amazon and your Chi will be an authentic one.
