GREAT.... but be smart
GREAT... because I had a good idea of what I was ordering! Firstly, this is NOT traditional memory foam (as it implies with the "Coolflow Technology"). It is a visco elastic substance that has a much lower density than most memory foams (ie. it is very soft and less supportive). For comparison, it is probably around 2 lb density and has some "memory". If you wanted this pad to supply healthy support that is comparable to traditional memory foam you would need a much thicker pad; I would even venture to say 8+ inches if you weigh over 150 lbs to distribute the pressure well and not bottom out hard. As a topper to an already "decent" mattress, this definitely adds some support and comfort. As a plus, this foam is much cooler than traditional memory foam and the price is decent! (note: it also is a bit smaller than the mattresses and other pads we have) I bought this pad to top a 4 inch 4 lb density memory foam topper on top of a firm mattress base. This is because the 4 lb density pad is a bit too warm and hard for my tiny wife with big bony hips. This soft and cool pad helped to alleviate that pressure and makes our bed like a soft marshmallow fluff cream YET with proper support and temperature. SO... I would highly recommend going the multi-layer multi-density pads and cheep firm mattress route (no, they do not slide at all). To make a decision, I read hundreds of reviews and ventured to many websites. If a manufacturer/seller does not display a foam density, be very weary of it. This pad was an exception and an educated play for us. I think at our current small size, a 3 lb density 4 inch under foam would be better. If you're well over 200 lbs, you may just want to ignore this pad and go for a higher density traditional memory foam. I also sought counsel from memory foam professionals/salesmen and they know the lingo but definitely had some bad advise. Happy with our purchases! Hopefully more people will be as well after reading this!
