Okay... you want a 'honest' review?
I am a 30 yr old w a 3 year old boxer. She has always been on a store bought "organic" diet... first w Blue Buffalo, then their Wild series cause I thought more protein would be good, and then I eventually went and tried Merrick's grain free us made food. Get my drift? She (my dog) has typically been healthy and on a decent diet.
Now for the good part.... so I began dating another dog lover. She has a black small to medium sized dog who is a mix must. Some beagles hound lad mix of whatever. She kinda of rescued her dog from her mom who didn't have time for her or money for her.... her dog has some issues. I haven't been in the vet office w them (gf and her dog) at all... but I know the vet always, ALWAYS tries to prescribe medications and monthly shots to the dog. The dog has had health issues for a long time... constantly itching, like always, to the point of annoyance... to the point where she bleeds. Scratching.g or chewing herself raw. Very sad. Also misshapen body do to over feeding and honestly tumors (which I think we're checked and not cancerous, not 100%). Like if you saw her dog, you would get sad... looked like death. Missing hair do to itching and going crazy on herself, smelled, shabby and bleeding etc etc. Yea... tell me about it.
They both moved in a while ago... and while at the drugstore getting my dog food I saw Honest Kitchens food. I didn't know about them and I was interested in it. My gfs dog had always had the cheap name brand dog food. All the good ones who see one tv or Wal-Mart for like 15 dollars a big bag. Those awesome brands you know (that's sarcasm btw). So I decided to take a chance and give it a trail run not just for my dog but my gfs dog too. This was a big risk... cause it's a 10lb bag for 2 dogs different sizes and the kicker was at the store it costs $100+ for 1 bag. I bit the bullet and tried it.
It was awkward at first.... for me. The prep, the waiting, the will they even eat this soupy oatmeal type junk?
I see people write that my dog is picky and won't eat it and etc etc...
Honestly... my dogs killed it. KILLED IT. It doesn't sit in the bowl for more than literally 60 seconds.... it's annoying... why? Cause they lick the damn bowl so much that they scout it across the tile floor... yea making that fun sound haha. I've tried most the meat bags now and with the same sounding results.
The best part is this... We're about 2 maybe 3 months into using these products. Jasmine hair, skin, and overall temperament is almost night and day. She isn't 100% by any means but her skin is getting better day by day and her hair is growing again. Rarely itches or chews herself anymore. She is more energetic esp around food time. I thought it was just me seeing results.. however when people come over that know about the death dog they also comment on how well she is doing and looking now. Needless to say I think we've turned some people on to the honest kitchen for that reason.
My dog even benefits from it as well... more lean, coat is amazing, energy, healthy poops.... Like those dogs could win prizes for those things man.
Give it a shot... try these out. It's worth every penny and every pain staking minute of the 5 min prep time wait. You're just lazy ;)... if you care you will take the time and spend the dime. Kudos honest kitchen, kudos.
