Amazing clay for making face masks and also other healing uses!
I bought this because I love face masks, but I hate when they go bad, or when they have added stuff in it to preserve it from going bad. This one is just the powder so it will last for 4-5 years. All you have to do is mix a little bit of it with water or apple cider vinegar when you are ready to use it.
Directions:
Okay, the directions on the back of this container don't really tell you how much you need to use for one face application. It doesn't actually make sense to me. So whatever, I used too much the first time and had extra left over. But then I looked up how to make a bentonite clay mask and I found that you just need a teaspoon of clay and a teaspoon of water. If you have sensitive skin, just use water. You can try the apple cider vinegar but it is harsher so maybe just start with water. You can also mix in a teaspoon of honey, as well. You can also add 2 drops of lavender essential oil. Then you apply it to your face. The thicker you put it on, the more toxins it will draw out of your skin. If this is your first time using it, start with a thin layer, and work your way up to a thicker application each time you use it. I left mine on for 30 minutes because I have oily skin, but you can leave it on whatever length makes you comfortable. DON'T USE METAL UTENSILS OR BOWLS. It will make the clay less effective.
How often to use it:
This is up to you depending on your skin type. I have oily skin so I can probably get away with using it daily or every other day. If you have dry skin, maybe only use once a week.
What it does/feels like:
This mask is awesome because you can tell it is working! You feel a tingling and then a tightening as it dries. I love the way it feels! When it is fully dry, you can wash it off in the sink with really warm water. Use circular motions to get it off because it gets really stuck on there. You can also use a washcloth to get it off. Just use hot water and put the washcloth on your face to steam it for a minute and the mask should come off really easily.
Results:
Bentonite clay soaks up the toxins, so it's great for an acne treatment and for making your pores smaller. I love how soft my face feels after! It does make your face red for a little bit after you use the mask, but my research tells me that is normal, especially if you use apple cider vinegar with it, like I did. I had a pimple on the tip of my nose and after using this mask, I noticed it healed up a lot faster than normal. Love it.
I'm very happy with this clay! Since I made too much the first time, I used the extra on my foot because I have a little bit of irritation and itching there right now (okay, it's a fungus from hell that flares up every once in a while and it is flaring up right now). I read that bentonite clay works great for healing foot fungus so I put it on my toes and my foot and let it dry, then washed it off. It helped get rid of the itch and my foot felt nice and soothed. No idea if it is going to work to heal it yet because I just started using it, but i read to do that once a day at least. So I am. We'll see what happens.
ALSO there is no way that this container only holds 10-15 facials. There is way more than that. If you only need a teaspoon per facial, this should last you for a super long time, depending on how often you use it. This container holds at least a cup of clay, and there are 48 teaspoons in a cup, so.... yeah. Long time. :)
Bonus!! You look like a swamp creature when it starts to dry. Haha.
