I was waiting at the door like a little kid for this. It comes assembled out of the box- no tools required. Initial thoughts, bulky but not heavy. It took me some time to put together as I was giving it a deep clean for my LO, but VERY easy and simple to put together. I bought two 4 panel extensions and I ended up not using 2 panels. The dimensions with 6 more panels is approximately 86.25x76.5, so it fits perfectly over an 8x11 area rug, with some room left over of carpet. Sturdiness was a big question for me, so it does move about half an inch but it would pretty hard for an adult to move it out of its shape, so for a toddler that's perfect in my book. Smell of plastic was another concern for me and I can happily report that there is no smell, aside from the box itself. One thing I would like to note about the whiteboard- I initially thought it came as pictured, but its actually a sticker and you have to place it on the door, which was easy to apply but I wanted to be specific for those wondering. To add the extensions was easy but it does take some strength to pull individual panels out of the base. Lastly, to lock every panel was easy, but it did take a toll on my finger and thumb, as I was trying to lock it as tight as possible. However, this is not a complaint, i just wanted to share this should you be shopping around other baby gates and reading the reviews to help with your decision, which I rely heavily on when purchasing items for my LO. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase and since I travel between my parents home and our vacation home, it was the obvious winner for me since its fairly light and portable- a must for me!
