I love it...BUT I wish it were safer/healthier.
I have been back and forth for the past 8 years, trying to find the perfect foundation... but I always come back to this. There just isn't anything out there that works better for me. When I first started using this product, I had a pretty bad case of psoriasis on my face. I had dry skin, what looked like acid burns, and tons of tiny irritated acne. I was also very active, and did not want anything that was going to clog my pores. I was able to completely cover all these problems with applying heavier foundation on those areas. It did not make my dry skin appear flaky like a lot of liquid foundations and powders do. I could go to sleep with it on sometimes, and not have to worry about my condition getting worse. This product feels amazing on you. I wear a lot of black clothing and suits. There have been many times with other products where I will rub my face and then rub my clothes, and it will leave a skin colored streak. Not to mention, my hand feels like it needs to be washed. I do not think this product is as bad. There may be some minimal rubbing off, but it won't feel greasy and my hand looks clean after touching my face. This product does not come with a make-up sponge pad. I suggest buying one that is more supple and less sheer to get the best coverage. I always try to be aware when I use anything with harsh chemicals. I tested this foundation on the Environmental Working Group - Skin Deep website, and found that this scored level 5 on a 1 - 10 scale of harsh chemicals (10 being the worst). The worst chemical in this is Retinol (synthetic Vitamin A. This chemical is rated at 9 on the 10 scale! "Use restrictions, Developmental/reproductive toxicity, Biochemical or cellular level changes, Cancer, Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive)). It is bad for you if you have too much, especially if you are pregnant. So, just keep this in mind if you are trying to only use good-for-you products. Don't believe things are good for you just because they say PUR Minerals... As for me, when I am pregnant, I probably won't wear anything, since everything these days is bad for you. I haven't found a healthier product on the market that will give me what I want. If I do find one, I will make a switch. I would like to ask PUR Minerals to look into the chemicals they are using, and try to find alternative, healthier ways to deliver the same look and feel that we have come to expect from them. It seems to me like they are gearing their market towards women who like organic, natural make-up, yet they harbor these unnecessary harsh chemicals like Retinol. I would be a customer for life if they would modify their recipes to make their products healthier.
