I have been a Littermaid owner for 15+ years. The originals worked pretty well, the new blue version is way smaller and not nearly as good, but quieter. With that in mind, I decided to try this Multi-Cat version from Nature's Miracle. Our family not only has many of our own cats, but we also volunteer and foster for a local animal rescue. That results in insane amounts of litter and litter boxes. A few years ago I decided to make it easier on myself and bought a 4' table with telescopic legs. On the shortest height I placed 3 boxes side by side, and removed the plastic litter collecting trays. I put 13 gallon trash cans under each bin hole, and the boxes scooped directly into the trash, making clean up super easy. Every 2-3 days I added a little more litter, but every 6-7 days I scraped all litter into the trash and replaced with fresh. Once a month I bleached them down. As I needed more boxes, and the original Littermaids became obsolete, I ignored the negative reviews and tried these boxes, in the exact same set up. First plus is the nightlight on the side - great feature. Don't overfill litter, at the line works best. The best clumping litter with the best odor control has been Tidy Cats Lightweight WITH GLADE Clear Springs, so understand, litter matters. The scraping tool for cleaning the litter raking mechanism is in the top, so you don't have to sit a dirty item on your table or floor - huge plus. It is pretty quiet, so much so that the one we use in our master bathroom has never woken us up, and I'm a ridiculously light sleeper. This is the only one we use the way it is expected to be used, but we put plastic shopping bags in the collection container to simply toss it out. We currently own 4 of this brand to supplement the Littermaids that have expired, and have every intention of adding more. I'm sure some will malfunction at some point, as most things do, but my back not breaking every day scooping litter boxes makes it worth the money even if one malfunctions. I've also found that using the cheap parsons coffee tables from the Wal place with 7-8 gallon trash cans work great too, 2 boxes side by side. It helps to have a step stool next to the table but not mandatory. Once you try this set up, you'll be a much happier pet parent! Please don't forget, rescuing saves lives! Volunteer or foster today!
