This is the way for cast iron, if you're willing to learn how!
I've tried the scrapers, tried the kosher salt method, even tried the chain mail cleaner. This brush consistently cleans my cast iron skillet without removing the seasoning layer. Hot water and this brush - all you need. With a seasoned pan, I rarely have to "scrub" with this brush, and never have to press hard enough to break the brush! I've had my brush for two years, hasn't broken, but the bristles are started to get a little frayed and stiff, so I'm buying another today. If you go cast iron, you have to learn a new way to clean and maintain. Once you learn it, and have this brush, you'll be set. When finished cooking, keep the pan on heat, add some oil till it's hot, then with hot water running, add some water to the pan which will boil and sizzle, which breaks up food/residue in the pan, then use brush to relatively gently break up and grind away what's in the pan, then use the running hot water to wash it all away, then use a paper towel to dry out the pan and "spread around" that thin layer of oil that didn't completely wash away. **NOT washing away that remaining layer of oil is THE KEY to keeping that skillet seasoned. When I started doing it this way, I really started loving my cast iron because the seasoning layer never gets lost and just continues to become more bonded with each use. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BRUSH!
