You don't need it. You don't care. America.
Just a tad more juice and you'd see through people. Seriously though, it's not the only light on the market with this output, but it must be the most lovingly crafted; after a few years' development Olight engineered a piece of art. Massive battery life (27 hrs at dimmest and 3 min and brightest), very effective cooling, auto-dimming with proximity or if shining directly into a mirror, tough-as-nails materials and case, ergonomics, water resistance, and ten-year warranty. Removable battery and Olight's intention to sell spares are two items I wanted and that have kept me from buying other lights. Just can't do an integrated battery on other models -- shortens the effective life too much. Nice broad spill, several steps between soft glow and straight-up blinding, feels like the sun on your face when held at arm's length (and still blinding through closed eyelids). A one-second hold for minimum, double-click for maximum, and triple-click for strobe is easy. The strobe feature is nice though perhaps a bit too fast for maximum disorientation. No other negatives after using it a couple weeks. Do you need it? Probably not unless you're into wilderness rescue or need a backup while changing the bulb on your lighthouse. Everybody's got their thing and overbuilt, overpowered, overprepped scenario planning is mine. This torch is prepper's delight.
