Follow the directions, and it works like it should.
I've been getting gel manicures at a salon on special occasions, to treat myself. It was hard to swallow the cost, though. Finally I broke down and got my own supplies. I'm thrilled with the results!! I followed the directions very carefully, and added an extra swipe with an alcohol pad just before painting, to be safe. I did 3 coats of color, 1 min curing for the base, 2 min each for the color and top coats. I also painted the edges of the nails. It's been 4 days without a single chip! That includes gardening and washing dishes (although I do wear gloves for both). I work in healthcare and wash my hands and use antibacterial gel like a crazy person, but so far it's had no effect. One thing to note: the base coat is sticky even after curing, so don't touch anything you'll regret....like cotton balls. Yes, I actually have some strands of cotton under the color coats, and they're still holding strong! As far as the cost, total for supplies was slightly more than I'd be paying in a salon, but after my daughter and I each did a manicure, they've paid for themselves!
