Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I don't write reviews. Generic rule of thumb because everyone has an opinion and most people really don't want to hear yours in the first place. I read the reviews. I bought the movie anyway to see for myself. As another generic rule of thumb... I don't criticize writing, plot or acting. I leave that for people that "think" they are some kind of art critic and that somehow their opinion has more value than anyone else's. So I base this review on one thing and one thing only. Was the movie enjoyable... or was it crap. Notice that 5 star rating? There's your answer. I didn't read the book series. As one review states... that means I won't like the movie. Wrong. As another review states... no parent would ever let themselves be separated from their kids. Again... wrong. Pick up a newspaper and read a headline once in a while. That one happens all the time. Most parents, most good ones anyway, would put their kids on that bus because most would believe that it was the safest thing to do. That doesn't make them stupid. It makes them parents. Priority #1 - Protect the kids. Single father with a .45 versus "US Army". So much for that comment. Bottom line... the subject matter was NOT bad. The plot was NOT stupid or nonsensical, or trite... as I believe someone said. (And wow to the ego that one takes... when they can show me their published books... I might listen to them). LOL But if you want to be entertained? This movie is worth the time. Its worth the money. And look around... there aren't a great deal of movie choices out there at the moment that you haven't already seen. If you want Independence Day action and explosions... or Aliens blood and gore... go elsewhere... This movie isn't that. But if you want an apocalyptic type of movie that doesn't have Zombies, Werewolves, Vampires, Biker gangs on crack, isn't caused by global warming, or requiring an asteroid impact or the sun exploding, this one is pretty decent in my opinion. I didn't see anything particularly wrong with the film, the acting, the plot, or the characters. All in all... I thought it was pretty good. Guess that apparently puts me in the minority from all the bad reviews I see on here. Makes me wonder if they watched the same film.
