These heat up just as described and have held up well. Not crazy about the clamps so I bought Hairware clamps to use instead. I have tried many roller sets that claim to heat up quickly and these by far are the best. These do get really hot if you don't start using by 5 minutes, and can burn your fingers if you plug them in and go off and forget them! I have been using hot rollers for 45 years, they are so much faster than curling irons and flat irons and for me do much less damage. If you experiment with different leave in times, you can get the same results for curls or smoother hair in far less time.
