I added it straight to my tank without rinsing it. I was worried that the substrate was going to be small and sand-like but its a good size and it doesn't harm my corys or pleco. My plants have been thriving and are very healthy. Its low maintenance and looks great. The gravel stays looking clean. A must buy for planted tanks!
