Works Great on Our Hard Wood Floors
We got this iLife V3s Pro vacuum to automate vacuuming in our kitchen (tile floor) and den & living room areas (hard wood floors). My initial impression is great - it works very effectively and flexibly.
We have 2 kids & a cat in our home and deal with the constant tide of debris & pet hair. Finding time to vacuum regularly is tough, so a robotic vac seemed worth a try. This one is quite simple to operate, but also flexible. For basic operation, plug the charging base in, charge the vac, and press the "clean" button on top. The vac takes off and cleans until it finishes or until the battery gets low, at which point it will automatically return to the charging base. The included remote control also allows you to control the vac remotely, schedule a time for cleaning, or clean using special modes (spot clean for small targeted areas or edge clean for walls & baseboards). The spot clean & edging modes are actually quite useful, and the ability to schedule cleaning is great. We have ours scheduled to clean late at night when we sleep.
The vac does a good job getting up dirt, dust, hair, and small debris on hard surfaces. Keep in mind, the V3s pro is not effective on carpet. We have a rug in our kitchen and one in our den, and the vac doesn't work well on them - as was expected. The vac has no problem traveling on the carpeted surfaces, which is nice - no need to pick up rugs or mats when you use it - but plan to vacuum rugs & carpet with a traditional vac. I am quite pleased with the performance on hard woods. Even when our floors look pretty clean, the vac gets up a lot of dust, dirt, and cat fur. The vac is also quiet enough to use it anytime. You can watch tv or sleep while it works without disruption. You'll hear it, but it's not distracting or invasive.
Emptying debris is quite easy. Pushing down on the top lid opens it up, where you'll find an easy-to-remove dustbin. Open it up, lift out a filter, and dump it. It's easy and no-mess, and you don't need to pick up the unit to access the bin or empty it. The bin has a HEPA filter and comes with one filter installed and 2 extras.
The robotic technology works flawlessly. The vac senses all walls, objects, and obstructions, and gently redirects as needed. It has a set of large oversized rubber wheels that stay recessed unless the vac needs to get better clearance. For example, it got stuck briefly on the edge of a small mat in our kitchen, causing the vac to raise up several inches on the wheels to get free from the mat and drive over the edge. It's a really handy feature, and kind of humorous to watch - every once in a while the vac becomes a lowrider!
Overall, I really like the vac and haven't found anything to complain about with it so far. I'll update my review as time goes on if I encounter any issues, but initially I'm very pleased. The vac is easy to use, easy to schedule, very effective, and quiet enough to use anytime. Thumbs up.
