I am a licensed cosmetologist and I purchased this Conair 1in. barrel iron and absolutely love it!! The highest heat setting gets very hot! I used it close to that, with a good heat protectant and being I wanted loose curls just ran through it very fast so it didn’t cause damage. I do however have thick hair and a lot of it. I curled both directions throughout, curling the hair closest to my face all back. When cooled, I ran my fingers through to loosen and fluff them more! I have a feeling these curls will last very well! For only being $10 it’s a great iron! Previous reviews stated the buttons are in inconvenient places where your hand travels, which I did experience hitting the on/off button while using but being it makes a click when you do, I was able to turn it right back on right away so no issues there. As far as the temp setting being adjusted while using as I read in previous reviews before purchasing, I took one’s suggestion of finding the temp setting appropriate for my hair and electrical tapes around the circular dial! Worked great that way🤗
