These were the only steps we could find that my standard dachshund (14.5 pounds) could use because of his long back. The wider steps and carpeted surface made them usable, and after a couple weeks of practice, he doesn't have to take a running jump up them like before... he can step up them in a leisurely (lazy) fashion. However, being a dachshund, he's stubborn, and he still tries to jump up without the stairs when I'm not looking. He also steals cupcakes.
