Everyone needs to watch this film!
No matter what color your skin may be, you need to watch this film. Black Americans have experienced these painful moments and will be familiar with them. It will always be a part of their black history and they will never forget. The killing of Malcom X, Medgar Evers and Martin Luther King were brutal and absolutely unnecessary. They were done out of white fear, ignorance and hatred. And it shows us just how despicable our country has devolved down to. But more importantly, it shows how hollow and soulless American whites are. And it has not gotten better in recent years but much, much worse. Police brutality and murders of unarmed blacks, a President who considers anyone of color to be inferior and a criminal and would secretly (along with many whites) like to deport them all. The white fear that got him elected.because within a few decades, white people will be a minority in this country.
For whites, these murders were a newspaper article. They they moved on with their lives. They never understood the fear invoked in black Americans every time they walked out their front door. The fear of being "noticed" by police. Considered lazy and criminal because white society had created these myths The idea that every black woman with kids is a "welfare queen" and gaming the systeml (Fact: More whites are on welfare than blacks). That black fathers run away from marriage and don't support their families (Fact: A large percentage of black fathers hold steady jobs, have enduring relationships with their children and spouse, and DO take personal responsibility for their families). Whites don't understand black fear because they have never felt afraid for being judged and discriminated against just because of the color of their skin. They haven't had to pay higher interest rates on car loans (blacks do), been turned down for a job or an apartment or kept out of a neighborhood because residents want it to be "all white".
People fear what they don't understand The way to face these issues is to learn history and FEEL what blacks have had to go through just to survive in this country. To never accept cultural myths (created by whites) but to earnestly learn all about what whites have done to blacks over the centuries.A point made in the movie is true..."the world is not white". White people have always been a minority on this planet. Power, wealth and social standing should not automatically come to us because we've had the power to enforce that situation. Diversity is part of Earth's future. DEAL WITH IT!
