You know how sometimes when you order an item after you've wanted it for so long, and you've built it up in your mind so much that when it finally arrives you're a bit disappointed? Well, this isn't going to be one of those times. Even after reading multiple glowing reviews and deciding on the kitt fox faux fur throw, I hesitated to order it. I didn't want to invest $155 in something I would be less than thrilled with so I debated, hedged, and chewed my nails for weeks before finally taking the leap. When it arrived I opened the package. I thought the throw was lovely and well made, but getting it was seemed almost anticlimactic and I was nervous. Perhaps I had dreamed of having one for too long and my expectations had grown too lofty; perhaps no fur throw of any quality would ever be able to measure up. Boy, was I wrong! The very first time I laid beneath the soft, graceful folds of this elegant throw to take a nap, I feel in love with it. Dog/animal lovers will understand. It was like snuggling up with a beloved malamute on a cold winter's day, only better. No bed hogging, no sharp nails, no wiggling about, and no messy face slurps; just cozy, comforting warmth - with the feel of plush real fur on top, and a lining of velvety-soft rabbit fur. I ordered the full throw size, large enough for hubby and I to snuggle together. It is heavy, but not not too heavy, and adds a homey, designer appeal to room decor. Although faux, the fur is very convincing. It has a nap that looks and feels real, with enough variance in fur shade, length, and texture to convincingly imitate individual pelts that have been sewn together. In fact, while reading a book or watching television I find myself absentmindedly weaving my fingers through the fur as though caressing a dog (or tame wolf or fox); extremely comforting and relaxing. While some of the other varieties of this fur throw sport shorter fibers with less of a nap and more uniform color, this particular version is perfect for me. Because I am an animal lover, I consider this better than real animal hide. I get the beauty, warmth, and feel of authentic animal fur, without any of the guilt. Would I order another - you bet! (I'm trying to convince hubby that he needs his very own ... perhaps the brown mink?) JANUARY 21 2016 UPDATE: just want wanted to comment that I still love the throw. I use it daily, often sharing it with my kitty who loves either curling up on top of it, or sneaking beneath its warmth when there's a bit of a chill. Also, I recall one commenter pointing out that the lining was not 'tacked' to the upper fur part, which meant there was some shifting. True, but I think it is this very fact that allows the fur throw to drape so gracefully and provides such luxurious folds. I've added a picture of my lovely fur throw waiting for me to enjoy its comforting warmth. MAY 27, 2016 UPDATE: with warm summer months upon us, my beloved kitty fox faux fur throw has been packed away until cooler weather returns. I do find myself missing it though ... dare I hope for chilly weather just so that I can retrieve it from the closet and lose myself within its folds again?
