We purchased this for are old pool. the original ladder fell apart after 2 years. We built a deck and since this is adjustable from 46" - 56" I knew it would fit. It took about 30 minutes to put together. The only thing I would have them add would be another pack of screws. I think each step needs 2 in either side, but they only have you put one instead. You don't need to fill with sand ( you can if you want), you just fill it with water from the pool or hose so it's not lighter than the water and won't try to float up on you as you secure it to the deck. It's been in place for a month now and it's worked great so far.
