Learning Spanish is Fun
Duolingo is the most enjoyable Spanish language learning tool I've found yet. I can advance at my own rate and repeat lessons as often and in whatever order I feel that I need to work. It is well organized and builds on what you have already learned. Each lesson is short and you can do as many or as few as you have time for or are comfortable with. I find it addictive, covering far more than I usually plan to, just because I am enjoying it so much. I also use Rosetta Stone, but look forward to Duolingo much more, because it's fun (and free...that's really good!) I love that you are notified of your proficiency percentage as you improve. That's a really tangible indicator of progress and closely mirrors my increasing understanding of both spoken and written Spanish. I like that is is so accessible. I don't have to carry books or notebooks everywhere as it is right there on my phone and my Kindle. I would (and do) recommend Duolingo to anyone interested in picking up the basics of a foreign language and look forward to starting French when I've gone as far as I can with Spanish, and there are so many more languages available to choose from. Try it with a friend or group of friends, or as a family. My daughter and I are planning a fantasy holiday in Spain which may or may not ever come to pass, but it's great fun working out an itinerary and poring over maps, dreaming of the museums and churches and restaurants we want to visit. I know I'll enjoy it so much more when I can speak the language and understand the local people. I can't recommend Duolingo enough. Just try it. I know you'll love it.
