Very nice looking clock. I bought it because it said "silent". Mine is not silent. It is very quiet and the only time I hear it is when I'm in bed and it is silent in the room, except for the sound of this clock. It is barely noticeable, but I do notice it. I personally think they should advertise it as "very quiet" rather than "silent." Unless of course my clock is the exception and the normal ones are actually silent. But the sound is decidedly not loud at all. And may be one of those things that is simply the way it is with this kind of clock face compared to an actually silent, digital clock with no hands running. Otherwise I like it. I can see the numbers very well without putting glasses on. The nightlight in it comes on with that little button you can see in the picture on top of the clock, and it's not glaring at all, but gives plenty of light. When you let go of the button, the light goes off. Very convenient feature. AND, it seems to keep very accurate time. If I had it to do over, I'd buy this again. Now it's Nov. 20. I placed this review on the 11th. A few days ago I accidentally dropped the clock on a hardwood floor. I thought for sure it must be broken. But it wasn't! Couldn't even tell I'd dropped it. It is working fine still. Cool clock. Now we are in April. I just wanted to write again, because I decided to take it from 4 to 5 stars. The reason I did 4 stars was that it isn't silent. But I've been sleeping next to it for months now and I don't even notice the very quiet sound it makes. And it is so sturdy. I dropped it again. It did not break or even dent. How did that ad go years ago? Takes a licking but keeps on ticking? LOL Seems to fit here!
