OMG, where has this been all my years of DIY landscaping?? $4/sq ft total project cost, including the truegrid, labor and gravel
My project was to level out the grade in a dirt floor basement, and then put down a surface that would both help keep the dust down, and allow true air flow porosity for moisture management without risking mold. My basement area was about 200 sq ft. I had an unskilled manual laborer doing some of the pick-and-shovel and rake work to level out the dirt and clear larger rocks. We did a rough screeding with a 2x4, then laid down the grid and poured the pebbles over. The entire job was done in a single day. This is a great product that really helps you create a very level surface, where the gravel doesn't get pushed out wherever you walk on it or roll over it. I would totally use this for a patio, walkway, boat storage, etc. - it's fairly forgiving on not needing perfectly level underlayment, as the gravel will fall through and fill gaps underneath the grid - I used 3/8"-1/2" salt and pepper pebbles. Really inexpensive bulk delivery from local stone supplier and worked well. I would plan on using about 1.2 cu ft of gravel per 10 sq ft of ground area - a circular saw with rough cut wood blade, or angle grinder with a segmented blade works best for cutting the grids to fit. fine tooth blades get gummed up by the plastic. there will be some plastic fragments from the cutting. - my total cost was about $4/sq foot installed and done in one day, whereas it would have been about $10 sq foot for wood decking or ~$12/sq ft for traditional pavers(which need perfectly level underlayment)
