Super happy with the the Fitpacker containers, four instead of five stars due to a minor issue
Sooo, about four weeks ago, we ordered these Fitpacker mealprep containers as a way to give meal prepping and portion controlling a go. My husband and I are trying to lean out a bit and get healthier. The Fitpacker mealprep containers looked like a good purchase, so we bought a few sets. The plan was to meal prep each Sunday to allow for three meals a day for each of us over a six day period, total of 36 meals to be prepped. The Fitpackers arrived as scheduled and we eagerly pulled them out of the box for a quick wash in the dishwasher. I have to say, the additional container in each package was an awesome touch - great job Fitpacker! That Sunday we did our usual meal prep counting macros and then portioned the food out into the containers right away (it honestly didn't take much additional time on top of the usual cooking). We let the food cool, then covered the containers and put away in the fridge. As other readers have commented, these containers stack very nicely in the fridge. Additionally, the same amount of food that we would usually cook actually now fits in the fridge better and still leaves some space for other things, which is a nice bonus. We found that portioning the food out into individual containers really made eating healthy a lot easier, if you can believe that. Having the containers in the fridge during the week made it so easy to grab and go or dish it out for a leisurely, well-proportioned meal. Clean up was a breeze - rinse out the containers and stack again in the dishwasher (top shelf). PROS: -Stacks nicely in the kitchen cupboard or fridge -Quick to clean - rinse them out and pop them on the top shelf of the dishwasher -Makes it so much easier to eat healthy (and eat regularly) on the go during the week -Seals tight - these containers, once closed completely, seal super tight. This is both a pro (sauces don't leak out) and a con (see below) CONS: -Seals tight - as mentioned above, this is both a pro and a con. We've put meatsauce and chili in these containers and there wasn't a drop that leaked. However, it does take some maneuvering and patience to get the containers open. I never thought of myself as a bull-in-a-china-shop sort of person, but in the first week and a half I chipped two containers (see picture - just a chip on the edge came off). The chip, because of where it is placed, doesn't affect the seal of the container, but it did bring home to me that I can't just rip these tops off when I'm hungry. You do need to carefully open the containers at a corner and then run your finger under the lip around the edge to pop the lid open. Lesson learned - no big deal. The two containers with the chips still function just fine. We have been using these containers for a few weeks now, and I have to say that we actually look forward to pulling one out and diving into the good food. It helps that we love what we cook - organic, free-range and grass-fed - but having everything correctly portioned in each container that is pleasing to the eye makes a wonderful addition. We actually feel (just slightly!) annoyed when we get invited to dine out - we end up missing our perfectly proportioned, organic, tasty meal :) As pictured, these containers are a wonderful addition to anyone looking to take their meal-prepping to the next level and actually make clean eating an easy reality.
