I am always puzzled when I read some of the product reviews here on AMAZON. Take this product, for example ... "Basic Metal Desk Lamp" ... that's what this is, a basic desk lamp, what else do you want for about $11?? I purchased two of these lamps. I use EcoSmart 60W Equivalent 5000K Spiral CFL Light Bulb, Daylight (4-Pack) bulbs and get more than enough light for my 24x24 photography light tent. Depending on the type of bulb that you use, yes, the lamp will get hot (not rocket science). I had these lamps on for nearly an hour and the metal was barely warm to the touch. The entire lamp weight about 2 pounds - the majority of the weight is in the base. With the goose neck turned as far down as possible, the lamp dose not tip and does not feel unstable. The power cord is about 5 feet in length - I'm not certain how much longer it should be?! Oh, and for those that say it arrived damaged, etc. ... contact AMAZON and send it back! There is no fee and very little inconvenience. AMAZON has been very good with customer service, in fact, lone of the few companies that I actually get real customer service. (both of my lamps arrived undamaged and brand new, each in it's original container.
