I bought this system to replace my 15 year old Bose Acoustic Wave music system. After reading the reviews I decided that about two hundred bucks for this system was a worthy gamble. When the system arrived I Compared this new system alongside my old Bose system. I was very impressed with the Sony syestem and to be honest I could not tell a significant difference between the two systems. I have had several Bose systems and I've like them all but I think they are a bit overpriced. And in this instance WAY overpriced considering that I paid over $1000.00 for the Bose and a little over $200.00 for this Sony. I did not hear an $800 difference in sound quality, if any difference at all. Plus, the new Sony system has new features that the Bose does not have. The Bose plays CDs and has an AM/FM tuner. The Sony plays CDs, has an AM/FM tuner, has Bluetooth connectivity and has a USB port as well as an auxiliary in for hooking up any other devices. Some of the negative reviews were regarding the sound quality. My guess is that maybe they hooked up the wires incorrectly on the speakers. If you don't hook each speaker up the same you get phase cancelation and the sound will be tinny and weak. Just make sure you hook the speaker wires up EXACTLY the same on each side. Hook the wire that has the red mark on it into the red clip on the speaker and the other other part of the wire into the black clip on the speaker. Do this on both speakers and your system should sound great. There is also plenty of power. I got the system up louder than I would ever play it without any noticeable distortion. And it's in my living room, the biggest room in my house. The only negative that I found and that was also mentioned in other comments here is that it does take time to wake up and be ready for use once it's powered on. Slightly annoying but definitely not a deal breaker. Overall I am very happy with this system. All the functions work as advertised. And the price is outstanding when you consider the quality of this unit.
