Great fun to raise many families -- but you gotta have patience!!
I have had this ap for several weeks and am on my 9th generation. There are an awful lot of reviews that are criticizing this game for the house being a wreck or for it taking too long to earn money. Come on people! Just like in real life, you have to work for things and wait until you have saved enough money before you get the stuff you want. This is not meant to be a game you play quickly and are done with! To me, that is what makes it so good. I come back to it a couple times a day, to be sure there is food, to be sure there are no weeds, to collect any collectibles (another way to earn money), to praise or reprimand my people, to give them appropriate meds if they are feeling poorly, etc. First, remember that you have to be sure your family has food. Then drop someone on the table to cook the food. They do not all come to the table on their own so you might have to pick them up and drop them on a stool so they will sit down and get fed. They need to be fed in order to have the energy to work. Sometimes you have to pick them up and drop them in their work space (kitchen for cooking careers, office for writing and tech careers, and the workroom for craft and mechanical careers)to make them work. This is how you earn most of your money. The more they work, the more they advance in their career and the higher their pay. What I didn't know when I started the game is that it is to your advantage to have people who work in the same career field and buy room upgrades (like for the office) because acquiring upgrades helps your couple advance in their careers a lot more quickly. I was more concerned about fixing up the house, and so now I have to go back and get these upgrades with the money my folks earn. So do not listen to people who do not have the patience to play this game. I have not spent a single cent of real money and have all my rooms fixed and furnished, except for the big one in the back, and that is because I keep finding other things to buy like the pool. Every time I set someone to swim, I want to jump into my own pool! I confess that I didn't have enough money when the pool came up as a sale item and it was such a great price, that I sold some of my existing furniture and toys to have the money to buy the pool. If you don't know how to sell things, just drag them to the curb by the gate. There are a lot of little things you just have to figure out. Remember, this is a simulation of real life and just like in real life, things don't come easily. But when you solve a puzzle or achieve a goal, doesn't that make you feel good?!! So just take your time and have fun. It is just a game, after all.
