I am not one to often write reviews. And I must admit that I am uncertain that I will add any value to your decision making process - as there are many thoughtful, articulate reviews for your consideration. Having said that, I feel COMPELLED to write a review because of the outstanding product that is the Bissell Big Green. First... I was concerned that this machine was HUGE in size. I don't know if it was the pictures, my imagination, or lack of taping out the dimensions to actually visualize the size... but this machine is NOT a big, heavy, unmanageable "monster". Second... despite the outstanding reviews, video demonstrations, and personal testimonials... I was not expecting this machine to perform as well as it did. I deep vacuumed our bedroom TWICE and verified that the carpet was "clean" by observing the amount of dirt picked up during the second vacuuming. In other words, my carpet was "clean" and there was no more dirt that the vacuum (a very good vacuum by the way) could pick up. I proceeded to "Bissell" the bedroom carpet and was truly stunned by the dirt this machine lifted. I almost cannot describe my shock. It wasn't just picking up "dirt", this machine was brushing the carpet fibers so deeply that it lifted out pet hair that my Shark simply could not reach. The carpet literally popped back to life while cleaning. Third point, this machine is VERY easy to use - including prep, use, and clean up. Fourth, cleaning with this machine is MUCH faster than I expected. By allowing me to clean while both pushing AND pulling the machine, the process was expedited. In addition, the suction created (which is more than just a function of motor speed) is impressive. It removes the vast majority of the cleaning solution and water mixture while cleaning and thus leaves the carpet only slightly damp. In fact, the carpet was dry within 2 hours and within 24 hours every bit of moisture was gone and the carpet looked and felt amazing. Fifth, the carpet has REMAINED CLEAN... weeks after shampooing it. Now I believe this may be in large part, a function of using the Bissell Deep Clean Pro solution as prescribed... but I also believe that this machine extracts the mixture so aggressively that the carpet dries much faster (than other machines) thus preventing stains in the pad from wicking back up into the carpet fibers. And my sixth and final point... the material, construction, and design of this machine is top notch. I have every bit of confidence that this machine will last many years with reasonably frequent usage and responsible post-use cleaning. In conclusion, I have no hesitation in recommending this machine... and I have absolutely NO financial interest in Bissell, its subsidiaries, or resellers nor have I been compensated in ANY WAY (financial or otherwise) for this review.
