Right in the shower
I have this right in the shower. We've have it for about 6 months now. It's holding up fine. It's really nice quality Teak. When we first got it, I was rinsing it off at the end of my showers (I just pick it up and hold it under the shower). My wife was leaving soap on it. That soap faded/spotted the finish after only a week. I washed it off, dried it, and took it to my shop. I used some "Bar Keepers Friend" on it and then a new coat of Teak Oil. Finished look came right back. I left a razor on the stool at first. That created a black stain that did not come out. Be careful about metal items on Teak. This stool seems to be a good size for a 4' x 5' shower. The feet are adjustable so you can make it stable. I didn't have any real issues putting this together. I kept all of the bolts loose until all of them were in place. ============================================================== Update after 1.5 years: This bench seat is holding up great. I'd say every 4-5 months I take it down to my basement shop and brush the soap scum off, check the nuts/bolts (they always seem fine... tight, no rust) and then re-oil it. I've been careful to rinse the soap off of it each time I take a shower... without that I think the soap would pull the oil out of this much quicker and probably require monthly shop work. To rinse it in the shower I just pick it up and run the top and and bottom shelves under the water. I'll then run my hand under the lips of the shelves to make sure soap is not collecting there. I had heard that teak holds up fine in the shower, but honestly, I didn't believe it (outdoor teak furniture loses its "teak" look very quickly... but I think that's probably due to Sun, not water)... they're right, teak does just fine with periodic cleaning and re-oiling. Very happy with this product. ================================================== Update: Feb 2016: Same as last update!. Teak really seems to hold up well. About 6 months ago I did notice that some of the screws were a little loose (some might have been loose from the beginning). I tightened those up without running into any new problems. Still very happy with this product.
