Finally, a travel mug with a lid that you can actually wash completely!
There is one thing I hate most about popular travel mugs in the market right now and that's the ridiculously un-washable design of mug lids. It might be dishwasher safe, but take apart (and I mean really take apart) your trusty Thermos/Contigo/OXO mug one day and see just how much filth has built up into the crevices of that cap. And even if you did take it apart every single day to wash the lid, you'll find just how impossible that is with basic household washing tools because there are so many nooks and crannies that are impossible to scrub into! I didn't get the Ello Ogden for the ceramic, I got it for it's incredible WASHABLE lid. Just look at the beauty - every crevice is reachable with a sponge and with this glossy plastic material all the built up coffee washes right off in a snap. I'm not going to lie here: this mug holds heat just a smidgen better than your average $1 IKEA cup with a plate on top of it as a lid. Where does the heat go you might ask? Straight to the outside of the mug where you can bet your melting fingerprints that this thing can quite possibly start a small fire. But you know what? I really, really, like this mug. And I think the company is on the right track with this design. The flaws come with the material choice, and that's not something they can do much about. Instead, what they've chosen to do is design a lid that doesn't make you want to cry when your day old coffee smells like a cesspool. Because unlike the stainless steel and complicated lid designs of their competitors - EVERYTHING washes off. I mean EVERYTHING. It certainly doesn't hurt that coffee tastes heavenly coming out of a ceramic mug.
