Very impressive camera!
I've owned this dash cam for a little more than a week, and so far, I've been very impressed. It seems to be the most bang for the buck right now. Yes, it's not true "4k", but nothing in this price range is. Maybe a poor marketing decision to claim 4k, but I look at the camera for what it actually provides, which is solid 2560x1440-30p performance, built-in gps, wi-fi, voice prompt feedback, and a proven sensor and processor. In my tests, the image resolving power of 1440-30p beats two other 1080 dash cams I compared with hands down (even better than 1080-60p, including low-light). One of the cameras I compared head to head was the A1, which is half the price, but it's a new design from a reputable company with a Sony sensor. The comparison convinced me that I definitely wanted more resolution than 1080. The R2-4k had a couple firmware issues which I noticed early on (such as the compass direction readout on the screensaver had east and west swapped, speaking of screen saver, the display can be set to read out current speed and heading from the gps, nice touch), but the company has been very responsive and has provided new firmware which has fixed any issues I've seen. It's also nice that the company is actively developing and supporting the product (unlike many mass-produced products these days). I haven't yet worked with the available geo-tag video player, which displays a google map location image while playing a video file, and I can't yet comment on the durability and longevity of the R2-4k, but I am very happy with my purchase at this point. I'll update this review should that change (for better or worse)…
