Here's what a retired Home Ec teacher thought...
My mother is a retired Home Economics teacher and an avid sewer/quilter, so I asked her to try out this machine. Here are her thoughts: • Instruction manual is easy to read and understand. Nice illustrations. • Machine has space for two spools of thread. A helpful feature. • The spool holders retract. Great for when you are storing the machine. Helps prevent them being accidentally broken off. • Thanks to the included snap-in plate, you can do free motion quilting. • Removable arm makes it easy to mend small items. • Comes with three bobbins. Nice touch. The accessories and features put it a step above a simple beginners’ machine. • Some might find the front-loading bobbin design hard to work with. • Stitches are good and even. The thread length is effective and stable. • There’s no thread cutter! Seems like a design oversight. The lack of a cutter is very unhandy for sewing. So, overall this Janome model is a nice, flexible machine that largely delivers on what is promised in the description. The absence of a thread cutter and front-loading bobbin design are probably the biggest drawbacks. The flexibility and feature are the biggest positives. My mom gave my daughter a sewing primer on this machine. Since my daughter ended up squirreling the machine away to her room, it is safe to say she enjoyed what she learned
