We live in Central Texas in Bell County. We do not have good soil here. We have had our Envirocycle for a little less than five years. It is, without a doubt, THE most valuable tool we use in our garden, and on our extensive property. Recently we had a freeze. We compost ALL of our kitchen waste. I went out to make our usual compost run, and when I opened the lid, the tab on the lid had apparently frozen to the compactor and sheared off from the lid--see the picture attached to this review. I called Envirocycle.com's customer service hotline and explained what had happened. I told them how old our composter was. I told them about the freeze. I fully expected them to give me a total cost for a new lid + shipping and handling, and ask for a credit card. They didn't. They said they would be happy to send me a new lid, free of charge, and they were, get this, "...sorry for the inconvenience." They went on to explain how they've improved their product since ours was produced. Honestly, I can't name one car, truck, product, tool or component or anything I own for that matter that is backed by this kind of SINCERE customer service. Unbelievable how Envirocycle stands behind their product, YEARS after it's been in nearly daily use. We have moved with this composter. It's tough. It makes a liquid in the base that is phenomenal and can be easily drained out directly under the root line of our trees. Solid waste is decomposed in a matter of days when it's over 65 degrees. Bones, twigs, old fruit, cooked foods, left-overs, leaves, dog waste, solids and liquids--it ALL goes into our Envirocycle. What comes out is a thick black sludgy-like mass every two weeks or so. We mix in old coffee grounds and dirt, put it in the bottom of all of our plantings, trees and fauna alike, and what happens is this: EVERYTHING we plant is Vibrant! The cool thing is that our garbage doesn't smell, ever. Nothing goes to waste, nothing. The only downside to this remarkable piece of equipment is that you may want to consider putting it down-wind of your residence, or at least out a ways from your house if it is your intention to use it like we do. I know some subscribe to the "natural compost only" theory, but the way we use it, ours gets a little ripe in the heat of summer. What I can tell you is this, ours was a gift to us; if I had 10 of these things, I'd have them all in various stages of composition, so I could use them all the time in the garden and around our ranch. My wife and I are both retired military. We know a good product when we see it, and more importantly, when we've used it. We've used ours, extensively. This review has been written BECAUSE we have owned ours for YEARS, and we felt we actually owed Envirocycle something. THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN ANY ASPECT OF THIS GREAT TOOL FOR YOUR GARDEN!
