Fun, Fast, Fresh - Great New Character!
This is a fun, fast read from a new & talented writer. (Honestly, Alan Lee writes so well that it's hard to believe this is his first book.) The narrator's first person voice is unique: humorous, very dry wit, and clearly intelligent. There was good character development, great dialogue, and a fresh & interesting plot line. The villain scene at the end was a tiny bit over the top (IMHO), but still worked fine. I adored Mack August, the main character, and hope to see much more of him! Oh, BTW, there was a fair amount of spiritual/Christianity theme in this book that was presented in a completely non-religious or preachy way. I found it really appealing and believe both Christians and non-Christians would find worth in those passages. Some editing needed here & there, but not a deal breaker by any means. This one kept me turning pages long past my bedtime!
