So far, so great... it's chilly in here!!!
UNBOXING: Not bad. The unit arrived today in its original LG box, no exterior box, but luckily it was unscathed. Unboxing would've been easier if I realized first that the box could simply be pulled up from the top to reveal the unit... I figured it out, but only after I made a mess in the living room. DOES IT WORK?: YES, this unit has cooled down my stuffy, sweltering hot bedroom to a comfortable, downright chilly, 70 degrees on an 85 degree day! It WORKS! [Background: I live in a second story, treetop view condo. Lots of light through the many windows and great shade trees in the building. No A/C needed in most of my home because of the great cross breeze. But the room this unit is installed in has two windows that don't face out toward any other windows. So, no cross breeze or air circulation.] EASE OF INSTALLING?: 3.5 out of 5 stars. The directions were clear and the online video from the LG site was helpful. It took me about and hour from unboxing to completely installed & running. I did it by myself, so may go quicker with help. BUT attaching the vent hose to the part that slides into the window panel is tricky. The directions make sense, corkscrewing it on counter clockwise. However, once I had everything connected as per the manual and went to reposition the unit into its exact location, the hose fell right out of the window diffuser part, just completely disconnected. So... TIP: just do the connect to the window panel part last. If I had to do it over I would: set up the window panel, connect the hose to the diffuser on the unit end and lock that into place, then plug it in, position it exactly where you want it, then connect the last diffuser to the window end of the hose and then that to the window panel and fasten in place with the screw provided for safe measure, and finally power it on. NOISE LEVEL?: Loud, like a large fan on High. I don't mind it, I like the white noise to drown out other noises at night because I'm a light sleeper. However, if you require silence at night, this may not be the unit for you. LOOK?: Just like the picture. Sleek, clean white glossy finish on the front and grey on the back. Streamlined control panel, flush with the unit. REMOTE?: Yes, very easy to use and includes a Swing feature to have the panes move up and down to assist with air circulation. Very nice feature! Overall, very nearly a 5 star rating with a little shaved off for the difficulty with the hose as mentioned. This is a very early review, but I will definitely return and edit if necessary (fingers crossed!)
