Caught 19 rats on day 3!
Finally, a rat trap that REALLY works! Our barn was taken over by rats. Poison was not an option for us. (Poison doesn't just poison rats!) Anyway, I followed the instructions that came with the Ratinator and baited it with the trap door open for a couple of nights. Basically building trust with my rat amigos. Last night I set the trap door. This morning... 19 rats, many of whom I recognized from such exciting adeventures as: rats scurrying under your feet as you collect chicken eggs, rats looking and laughing at you from a place you can't reach, and everybody's favorite, shooting at rats in the barn with a .22 and getting 1 a night if you are lucky. Fun times. SO, what do you do with 19 terrified, running, screaming rats? Does the Ratinator-creator (is it Doofenshmirtz?) expect you to reach your arm in the exit door and pluck those toothy little bastards out one by one? Or just open the door and let them resume their fRat party all over your barn? No. No he (she?) doesn't. The Ratinator comes with an unmarked plastic, watertight bin the conspicuously fits the Ratinator unit perfectly. So, let's say you were to fill the bin with water and place it on a flat surface... yes. Yes your rat filled Ratinator would easily fit and drop down into the water. Concerned that is an inhuman way to kill the rats? I was too. I considered other options, but took the Ratinator-Creator's hint after realizing that nothing would kill them faster and cause less fear and be less toxic. (I considered freezing them and gassing them.) now I am left with about 12 lbs of premium, organically fed barn rat, free of poison, and lightly bathed to leave out for whatever animal is higher up on the food chain but lacks the apposable thumbs needed to set the trap door... or work the Amazon App to order this badass rat trap!
