I’ve had this for about a week and am pleased. It’s not perfect, but better than anything else I’ve used. I use it on my 2500 gallon raised pond (Google ‘glass block pond.’) There’s a good inch of dead algae in it and this vac does suck it up well. The vac sucks for 12 to 15 seconds before automatically switching to discharging, the discharging taking about a half minute. I can clean about one square foot of pond floor in the 12 to 15 seconds so it is a very long process, but still it’s the best method I’ve found. I discharge the water back into the pond through a filter bag, but not the supplied one - it’s too small. After three suction/discharge cycles their bag is full and starts leaking muck back into the pond. Part of the problem is the draw string fastening method doesn’t seal the bag on tight enough. I fixed the latter problem by fastening the bag to the discharge hose by wrapping it with 2-inch wide double-sided Velcro. Holds very well and removes easily. Got mine from McMaster-Carr, but Amazon might have it too. Fixed the too-small bag problem by buying larger ones from McMaster. The supplied bag appears to be between 200 and 300 micron mesh size. I bought a 250 micron 14-inch dia x 3-foot long bag (9830K7) and a 300 micron 11-inch dia x 2-foot long bag (2514K49.) Both work well and allow much longer vacuuming time between emptying. Be warned that bags this large will be quite heavy when full of wet muck!
