I have been a long-term user of Thermophore products, which have helped to temporarily relieve symptoms of a chronic condition. When looking to replace my old MaxHeat device, I noticed that the manufacturer had added a new model that included a new switch that allowed for three levels of constant heat, which I decided to purchase. [Similar models with single-temperature switches are still available.] I greatly appreciate the multiple temperature settings afforded by the new switch. Previously, I had to constantly turn it off when the heat became uncomfortably hot, and back on again when it cooled down. The new switch has low, medium, and high settings, and for my needs medium is optimal. Ideally, I could simply set the setting to "medium" and forget about it until it automatically shuts off after about 20-25 minutes. In practice, I have found it's more of a two-step process. That's because the time to reach the three settings do not heat the Thermophore at the same rate—the higher the setting, the faster it heats up. I have found that setting the switch to "high" for several minutes and then lowering it to "medium" is more efficient than turning it on the "medium" setting at the start of my treatment. This is a minor annoyance for me, and the new switch is still a big improvement over having to turn the Thermophore on and off continually during use.
