I live on the first floor of an old house that is fairly large. We have been having a prolonged heat wave for about 10 days, with outdoor temps around 95 and high humidity, and I only have 2 window AC units that are doing their best to cool things down. I also have a large box fan and an old school round head, three blade tower fan that I have been using to try to push the cool air from the AC units through the house. No matter what configuration I set up for the fans to try to move the air around, it still was fairly warm in my place. I have been avoiding doing anything that would generate additional heat in my place, like opening my shades, blow drying my hair, or cooking. Sleeping has been difficult even with the old tower fan pointed directly at me on high. In sum, it's been very uncomfortable. This Dreo fan arrived yesterday and I set it up in about 5 minutes, unplugged the box fan that was in the doorway of the sunroom where one of the AC units is located, and plugged this guy in so that it pointed out of the sunroom into the living room (attempting to blow the cooled sunroom air into the living room). Turned it on and the LED display showed me that it was 85°. Too. Freaking. Hot. I cranked the Dreo up to the max speed, started it oscillating, sat on the couch to watch some TV, and waited. Within about 10 minutes, the LED display showed that the temp was already down to 81°, not a bad start for only 10 minutes. An hour later, it had dropped 12° to a very comfortable 73° in the living room. Even more impressive, the kitchen, which is all the way across the house on the very opposite end of the house from the sunroom, and has been basically a hot box during the heat wave bc the two AC units and my old fans just couldn't move air well enough to get it to the kitchen, was only slightly warmer than the rest of the house. Not like walking into a furnace as it has been lately. I brought the Dreo over to the kitchen to see what it would register for the temp and it was only 75°! Only two degrees warmer than the sunroom with the AC right in the room. Last night I brought this fan into my bedroom to help make it a comfortable temp while I slept. My second window AC is in my bedroom and I had been using the old bladed tower fan pointed right at me to try to get that cold air on me while I slept, but I was still hot and sweaty and I could not use any blanket. Plugged in the Dreo, the temperature in the room was 73°. Fine during the day but too hot for me to sleep comfortably. Again, I turned it up to the max, set to oscillate, and got into bed. Within a few minutes, the temp reading was at 70°. I fell asleep with just the top sheet on me. I woke up a few hours later bc I was actually chilly and I needed the blanket! As of this morning, the temp in the bedroom when I woke up was 64° which is right where I like it (in the winter I turn my heat down to 63°). This fan is AMAZING. I was wondering at first if it was worth the price when I could just go to target and get a tower fan for like $12.99 but after using this for one day, I am never going to waste money on those cheaper fans again. This guy really works to cool the room, not just blow the warm air around. It's really quiet, the temp display is nice, and the natural mode is also a nice touch bc it stimulates a breeze, with the air blowing at different strengths like a real breeze would do. I am going to be buying another one of these bad boys so that I can park one in the doorway to the sunroom to push the cool air through the house and keep another one in the bedroom. I have never loved a fan so much before. And the remote control is a nice touch as well.
