I slept better the very first night I took this, after a week, energy is much better
I am 64 and on blood pressure meds. I suffer from lack of energy and poor sleep quality. I was researching why 500mg of niacin made me feel better at a time when my doctor said high dose niacin is only good for blood lipid control and 500mg probably would not do anything for me. I know it made me feel just a little better. That was when I came across the NAD+ connection and NIAGEN research papers. Days ago I received my first NIAGEN bottle and started the 250mg daily dosage. My sleep quality immediately improved. I'll update on the energy levels after a few weeks. I have noticed a long lasting, mild, caffeine like energy boost from this product. It is a lot different than what niacin was doing for me, in a good way.
Things to be aware of:
1) If you are young and healthy, you may not notice much of anything from this product. The body's NAD+ recycle system becomes less efficient with age or disease, that is where NIAGEN can be really useful at raising NAD+ levels. Cellular stress (like sunburn) will also place a drain on NAD+ levels.
2) This is not some fancy form of niacin. Niacin has a lesser degree, similar but mostly undocumented, effect on NAD+ with some real uncomfortable side effects. NIAGEN has the human studies to let me know it is effective at raising NAD+ levels and approximately how much is needed. From what I have read, much more than a 500mg daily NIAGEN dose is probably wasteful, 300mg is useful and works. Doses as low as 100mg have been shown to raise NAD+ levels in humans.
UPDATED: 5 Stars now, no doubt. After just 5 days on 250mg: Wow! I started this on Sunday and mentioned the slight caffeine like hit. I woke up on Friday and the caffeine feeling had passed. I just woke up feeling good (at 64 that is priceless). Friday evening, two hours ago, I finished five trips up/down a ladder to my roof to work on some Ham radio antennas up there (hacksaw, wrenches & hammers, muscle work). After that, I actually feel good, a little muscle tired, but the same good tired as I remember from years ago. Last weekend before I started NIAGEN, I made two trips up the ladder to check out the antennas, and my son almost had to help me down on the second one. My legs gave out (not a problem today). My health is probably fair to average for someone my age. I do not know that my health improved any but my quality of life just went up 100%. Who-hoo!
