The poles were AMAZING! I could not have made our recent trip to Yellowstone/Tetons without them. I was recovering from back issues and needed the extra support when walking. I hiked all over the Tetons and saw the most breathtaking sights that I could not have seen without the poles. I actually was asked about them on a couple occasions and gave my testimonial. It was nice to have the option of the two different ends (sharp and rubber-tipped) for the different surfaces I encountered. The only drawback - and it didn't prove too big a problem - was the length of the poles when fully collapsed. They were still too long (by a couple inches) to put in our small suitcases and we could't take them in our carry-ons (even if they did fit). So I had them shipped to our destination and mailed them back before leaving to return home. Otherwise, they were a god-send.
